nonsense-political and otherwise

neebsnot that everything political isn't nonsense, but this is more so than usual.
*disclaimer: i suck at following all things political, so if this isn't what's actually happening, someone please tell me. i would appreciate being in the know.*
this whole France/Germany/Russia whining about not being included in the reconstruction bids for Iraq is really pissing me off. not only did they not send troops or money, but they didn't even verbally support the US in the war. furthermore, they flat out verbally CONDEMNED the actions we are taking over there. and now they expect to be a part of the reconstruction, most of which will be funded by US money??? (the fact that we're sending so much money over there is a whole different issue, so let's stick with this for now) what do they expect us to do, slap ourselves on the forehead and say "oh, you're absolutely right, you DO deserve to be a part of this, even though you've been saying for MONTHS that what we're stupid." no thanks. i'll stick with my Freedom Fries.
last night George and i had an interesting discussion on whether or not guys who sleep around are sluts, or if that term should be strictly reserved for girls. i say equal opportunity baby. if you sleep around and you're a guy, i'll be the first in line to call you a manwhore. it's the same act, the same mindset, so what's different between a guy and a girl doing it? G says it's because there's so much more responsibility on the girl-i.e. if she gets pregnant, she's done, whereas if a guy gets a girl pregnant, he can still go out and sleep with lots more girls. while i understand that concept, and i grudgingly agree with it, i still think that if you sleep around, it makes you a slut. i don't care if you're in a fraternity or a sororiety-you are slutty. (note: i am not trying to imply that the fact you are in the Greek system makes you a slut, i'm saying that it doesn't matter which branch of it you're in-if you sleep around, you are a slut. and i pick the Greek system as my example because let's face it, i just plain don't like most of them. "HI, NICE TO MEETCHA, HI!" hahahaha. stupid ADPi.) anyway, like i said, it was an interesting conversation, and i'm interested in hearing what any of the rest of ya'll think about it.

Although I think a lot of guys would take being called a slut as a complement whereas all the girls I've called sluts don't seem to like it. I think it's interesting that people will sleep around then get annoyed when you call them a slut. I'm not saying being a slut is bad (I not saying it is good either), but if you're going to do the action you're going to get the label. And I'll out right say that the Greek system is a bunch of sluts giving each other social support.

as for manwhores, i'm totally with you. another interesting thing that we were talking about in sociology is how it is more socially acceptable for married men to have affairs than it is for women (thought that is changing, but still not significantly). i just don't understand it. and why it's ok for guys to brag about sleeping around and get high-fives, but girls get looked down on for doing the same. look. if you have sex with a lot of people, ESPECIALLY random hookups like every week with drunks you don't even know.... you're a slut. end of story.
