Your Christmas is Most Like: A Very Brady Christmas

For you, it's all about sharing times with family.
Even if you all get a bit cheesy at times.

This weekend was a crazy busy blast o' fun.

Friday I went to G's house for dinner (he made me a yummy omelet with ham, cheddar, red peppers and mushrooms) then headed to Cohoon's house to meet up with peeps while he went to Arlington with his boys. I got there WAY before Jes, Erik and Joe, so I got to lose to Chris and his roomie Ed in any type of pool we could play. That was enjoyable. When the rest of the kiddos got there, we played some more pool and Chris downloaded some Itunes for me because he just rocks that much. Also, I tripped going up the stairs, which made him laugh. I am all about bringing joy and happiness to others! After a few more rounds of pool, we popped in some Family Guy. We watched two episodes before I decided I was too tired to stay anymore.

Saturday I got up, cleaned, went to the grocery store with Tania, went for a run, took a shower, got dressed for my party, partied until 2 with my friends and until 4 with Kym and Tania's friends, and fell asleep sometime after 4:30.

Sunday I woke up feeling icky and tired, probably from the Saturday activities. I showered then went downstairs and threw all of the cans and bottles into recycling bags, then headed to mom and dad's house. I made cookies and sat around resting, then headed to youth group. We helped out with the rotating shelter last night and it was an incredibly amazing experience for me. (The rotating shelter is at each church for a week at a time and is a way for homeless people to get off the streets in the coldest of winter.) I always send groups out to places like this for my job, but rarely do I get the chance to have the interaction.

Last night I made my junior high kids talk and socialize with our shelter guests since they said they were afraid of homeless people and I wanted them to see that we are all the same. While we circled up to pray for dinner, I stood next to a woman and her daughter. After we prayed, I introduced myself to them and learned that Whitney was 10 and in fifth grade. Most of my girls are in sixth or seventh grade, so I introduced all of them and for the rest of the night, they were inseperable. I felt like I couldn't NOT talk to our guests since I had just made my kiddos do it, so I had dinner with Aaron last night and it was great. We talked about living in DC and not liking the Redskins (he's Dallas, I'm Packers), the different dogs we've had, his health problems, why he's on the street, my party on Saturday night, and who knows what else. We ended our conversation when they opened up the stage which was CHOCK FULL of donated clothes from our church and Aaron went to see if he could find a winter coat.

As I was getting ready to leave, I saw Whitney again and asked her if she had liked hanging out with the girls and she said she had. I also asked her if she had gotten anything from the clothes on stage and she showed me her adorable new winter coat. I was so moved by all of this that when I got to G's house to drop off his "Good luck on your exam" cookies, I was almost in tears. I feel like sometimes I am not doing enough to change the world and make it a better place and it drives me crazy because I just don't know what else to do!!! Luckily for me, G is one of the most understanding people I have ever met and he helped talk me through things. He's so wonderful!

So all in all, it was quite the weekend and I am exhausted from it. I am medicating like nobodies business and hydrating and eating clemintines for Vitamin C and by golly, I WILL NOT BE SICK FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR!!! It's all about mind over matter!!

As always, the important part (as determined by me) is in bold.
