Crazy weather

neebswhoa...as i sit at my desk, i can hear the wind literally howling by. crazy. this morning, as i was eating breakfast at my parent's house, i happened to glance out the window and see a tree fall down in the woods. luckily, it's nowhere near the house or anything else. i decided to double check how many other trees may have fallen and i think i came up with a total of 6 down-but some may have been from the hurricane. (since they're out in the woods, there's no reason to clear them away) good thing for me that it wasn't this windy last night-i let annie (the dog) out last night in the middle of the pouring rain under the assumption that my dog was not a moron and wouldn't run away in the dark and pouring rain. HA. she sure had me fooled. 20 minutes later, after i've whacked my head on several trees as i'm chasing her through the woods in the dark, i finally catch up to her, only to have her bite me as i grab her collar to drag her inside. lovely. all of this after i rolled my ankle at volleyball, so i'm not just running through the woods, i'm gimping through the woods, in nice (now ruined) shoes nonetheless.
i don't expect to have power when i get home tonight, either, since there were about 4 trees on the powerlines within a mile of our development as i drove to work this morning. hopefully i will, though, because dan might come over for our Thursday Night Lineup party. it would be nice to see a friendly face tonight, since i hate being alone in my parent's house. last night was one of those nights where you just want someone to curl up with by a fire. unfortunately for me, that someone was doing homework (that's what i get for dating a nerd-i mean grad student) and if i tried to start a fire i'd probably burn the house down. so probably it was best that i just went to bed.
