More on my weekend in a minute...let me just say that the BLIZZARD OF 2005!!!!!!!!!! is a load of crap. Everyone got off school today. The gov. had liberal leave. Even the freaking UMD was closed. And when I headed to work today...not a flake in sight. (Well, besides me.) Seriously, though--no snow to be seen. Granted, right now it's snowing and hasn't stopped since about 10. But NOTHING--I repeat NOTHING--is sticking. The roads are clear. The sidewalks are clear. The freaking bushes and treees don't even have snow on them. This. Is. REEEEEDICULOUS!!!!!!!!
Of course, if I had off today, I would be totally in agreement, so it's probably all perspective... ;)
This weekend was fun. On Friday, George and I had a date. Ooh la la. We went up to Gaithersburg to this yummy pizza place, and I got to drive his car up there. Then we went back to my house and instead of turning on the TV/a movie like we always do, we played some games. First we played "You Don't Know Jack" but he didn't like it when I beat him twice at it, so we switched to card games. He did much better at those!
On Saturday I ran around doing some errands, then met mom and dad at Miss Heidi's house for yummy food. I was supposed to meet Rach and Dan at 10 in College Park, but she called at 10 and said they hadn't even left yet, so...I scrapped that idea and went to bed.
Sunday I went to church, and afterwards we went out to lunch with Norma's fam. Jes met us at DuClaw, and I am jealous of her because she got to see George yesterday and I did not. (He was on campus and gave her a ride to her dorm after church.) Then our fam was off to the Naval Academy to see "HMS Pinafore" that the academy kiddos put on. It was pretty good, but it's an operetta, which isn't my favorite...after that, we headed back home where I watched the end of the first half of the MD game, then headed to Youth Group. Kendrick, our new, young preacher dude, came and talked with the kiddos and he was really interesting and we had a good time. Then I headed back to Rockville. George and I had a crazy long conversation last night about faith/religion stuff. It was most excellent.
Today G called me at 8:30 and told me the government had liberal leave, since I told him I wasn't going to work if they did. Well that was a big fat lie, because I couldn't find a way to justify not going to work with no snow on the ground. The snow is still flurrying, but like I said, nothing is sticking and I am less than impressed by this supposed 3-6 inches of accumulation. The only reason I will leave early is because the heat is not on AGAIN. But other than that, I got so much done today, and I am feeling very accomplished.
